How to Fix iPhone 13 Face Problems

Recently, Phone Repair Guru released a video about iPhone 13 screen replacement. After replacement, the "Important Display Information" pops up. To make matters worse, Face ID isn't available. Today, phonefix will share how to fix iPhone 13 face.

First, let's test the Face ID function of the iPhone 13, and the True Tone function is normal. And you can set Face ID and it works fine.

Next we disassemble the phone and try to replace the screen with the original genuine one. Remove the sensor flex cable with a ATTEN ST-862D heat gun at 100 °C. Be careful not to damage the flex cable when removing it.

Connect the removed sensor cable to the new screen. Mounting screws. Connect the new screen. Turn on your phone. "Important Display Information" appears. Failed to set Face ID. True Tone disappears.

Then, we try to transfer the IC on the original screen to the new screen. Remove the new screen. To prevent scratches on the screen during operation, put a protective film on the screen.

Heat the screen flex cable at 100 °C with a heat gun. Gently pull up on the flex cable. To protect the screen, insert a ball template under the flex cable for insulation. Apply high temperature tape.

Use a heat gun at 240 °C to remove the black adhesive around the chip. When removing the chip, set the temperature to 300 °C and the airflow to 6.

Then apply some medium temperature solder paste. Clean the pads with a soldering iron and solder wick at 360 °C. Proceed to use the PCB Cleaner to clean the pads.

Next, use the same method to remove the chip on the original screen.

Apply some medium temperature solder paste to the pads. Use solder wick to clean the tin and black adhesive from the die pads. Proceed to use the PCB Cleaner to clean the pads.

Next, re-stack. Put the ball template in place. Apply an even layer of medium temperature solder paste. Heat with a heat gun at 300 °C to form solder balls. After the solder balls are formed, clean with a PCB cleaner.

Apply Paste Flux to the pads of the new screen. Align the original screen chip. Solder the chips with a heat gun at 300°C.

Remove the high temperature tape after the flex cable has cooled. Connection screen. Turn on your phone. There is no "Important Display Information". Face ID can be set up and works fine. But True Tone hasn't recovered yet.

Apple has long been criticized for displaying prompts like "Important Battery Information" and "Important Camera Information," making it difficult for third-party repair shops to fix its products.

However, it is risky to replace the chip to solve the problem of Face ID not working after the iPhone 13 screen replacement. PHONEFIX does not recommend that non-professionals try this method. Please feel free to leave your thoughts on the issue.
