How to Fix iPhone X Face ID Not Working
If you own an iPhone, you've probably experienced Face ID not working at least once, getting a message to move iPhone a Little Lower/Higher. Today, phonefix will share how to fix iPhone X Face ID not working.
Software problem
Step 1 Check for updates
If there is a new version available, downloading and installing it should solve all problems. If you have important data on your iPhone, make sure to back it up using iCloud or a computer.
Step 2 Restart your iPhone
Restarting the phone can also fix the "Move iPhone a Little Lower/Higher" message. Please follow the steps below to restart.
1. Press and hold the iPhone volume keys and the side button, and wait for the power off slider.
2. Drag the slider and wait for iPhone to shut down.
3. Before you start your phone, wait a few seconds, then press and hold the side button to turn it on.
4. After the iPhone restarts, try using Face ID.
Step 3 Factory reset iPhone
If none of these solutions work, the next step should be a factory reset, which may or may not fix the Face ID bug, but at this point you have no choice. Before you factory reset your iPhone, make sure to back it up using iCloud or a computer.
If none of the above methods resolve the message issue, your situation may be related to a hardware failure. The next step is to troubleshoot face recognition.
Hardware problem
Step 1.Test Flood Illuminators
Let's start with the flood illuminator. There are two important parts of Face ID whose behavior relies on flood illuminator support. As part of our day-to-day repair work, we can confirm that the floodlights are working properly by testing the proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. Let's make a call to confirm that the proximity sensor is working. During a call, cover the top of the screen with one hand. We can see that the screen goes black immediately. From this, it is judged that the proximity sensor is working normally.
Next, test the iPhone X Ambient Light Sensor Flex
Turn the screen brightness down to minimum and place the phone in bright light. As the screen gets brighter, we can confirm that the ambient light sensor is working as well. From this, it can be judged that the failure of Face ID is not caused by the floodlight.
Step 2.Test the iPhone X front camera assembly
Let's move on to the next step where facial recognition doesn't work - testing the front camera part.
Open the camera app and swipe to portrait mode. The background is not blurred, which is not normal.
Step 3.Observation point projector
In portrait mode, there is no flashing red light from the dot projector. But Dot Projector should flash red light in normal state. We can now confirm that the Dot Projector is down. This is the glitch that caused the Face ID setup to fail. We can fix the glitch with the JC Dot Flex Cable, which is used to fix iPhone Face ID low/high issues.
If it is a software problem or a temporary system failure, it can usually be solved after restarting. In addition, the infrared camera, flood illuminator and dot matrix projector are paired with the mobile phone. Damage to any of these can cause Face ID to fail, and such a problem is irreparable.
