Upgrade Cracked iPhone XS Max to iPhone 13 Pro Max
What to do when your iPhone XS Max is badly damaged? Here, phonefix will share how to fix your phone and upgrade it to iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The iPhone XS Max display screen and back cover are damaged, the touch screen is unresponsive, the signal board is deformed, and the front camera module dot matrix machine is also damaged. We will repair it and upgrade to the new iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The motherboard is in good condition, but the touchscreen is unresponsive after removing the broken screen. Connect the motherboard with the new screen and turn on the phone.
Step 1: Replace the deformed signal board
The signal board is deformed when the main board is removed. To fix this problem, the signal board needs to be replaced.
First, remove the baseband CPU, EPROM, and NFC chip on the signal board under the 7-180X stereo microscope.
Reassemble the three chips and solder them to a good signal board.
Step 2: WiFi Untethering
Since the signal board has been replaced, we need to remove the NAND to untie the WiFi. Connect the NAND to the JC P11 NAND programmer for WiFi unbonding and re-solder the NAND after unbonding.
Apply some solder paste to the pads of the new signal board. Next, we used the JC heating platform to reassemble the signal board with the logic board.
When we connected the screen to test, the phone turned on and the touchscreen worked fine. The motherboard has been restored and the screen is working fine.
Step 3: Remove the point projector for the front camera
The dot matrix projector for the front camera module is also broken. Then we need to move the IR camera and dot matrix projector cables to the new front camera module.
Grind and remove the thermal imaging camera. Install and secure the IR camera to the new iPhone XS Max front camera module.
Remove the breakpoint projector flex cable.
Step 4: Read the raw data to the new dot projector
Then remove the dot matrix projection module and read its data with JC Pro1000S Receiver. Write data to the new flex cable. Before soldering the dot matrix projector module, we need to remove the MOSFET and short pins 2 and 3.
Next, we soldered the point projector module to the new flex cable. Put the new dot projector flex cable back into the front camera module.
Use adhesive to align the flex and secure it. After we fix the front camera module, we will restore the True Tone of the screen.
Step 5: Restore the true color tone of the screen
Remove the handset flex cable from the damaged screen and install it on the new screen. Read screen data from broken screen and write data to new screen.
Use the JC V1S Programmer to read screen data from a damaged screen.
Step 6: Remove parts from damaged back cover
Due to the serious damage to the original back cover, we need to replace it with a special iPhone 13 Pro Max back cover glass.
Step 7: Move the parts to the back cover and test
Move the damaged back section to the new iPhone 13 Pro Max back glass replacement.
The iPhone XS Max has been successfully restored and all functions are normal.
