iPhone 15: Everything We are Expecting

The iPhone 15 launch is getting closer and excitement is already running high. From what we can tell, this year’s update may bring some major changes in terms of design and functionality. Follow Phonefix today for more iPhone 15 rumors.

iPhone 15 Release Date Guesses

Of all the early iPhone 15 rumors, the release date is the easiest to predict. The iPhone 14 was announced on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, with a release date nine days later on Friday, September 16. If Apple sticks to a similar pattern, we could see the iPhone 15 launch on September 6, with a release date of September 15.

iPhone 15 Price Guesses

We still don’t know pricing for the iPhone 15 series, but recent reports suggest that Apple is planning to increase the price of the Pro models, and we’ve even heard recently that the regular models could be a bit more expensive, too. The report pointed to rising prices of new processors as the main driving force behind it.

Here are the latest iPhone 15 price rumors:

iPhone 15: $799
iPhone 15 Plus: $999
iPhone 15 Pro: $1,099
iPhone 15 Max: $1299

iPhone 15 Models

We expect to see the familiar four model names in the iPhone 15 series.

The expected names are as follows:

iPhone 15
iPhone 15 Plus
iPhone 15 Pro
iPhone 15 Max(Or the very slim chance that we might actually get an iPhone 15 Ultra)

iPhone 15 Design Rumors

Several design leaks of the iPhone 15 suggest that it may return to the phone’s curved design, even though the leaker claims the display will remain flat. In fact, dummy devices for possible iPhone 15 models show devices with rounded edges, matching the size and shape of current iPhones. Don’t expect Touch ID to return to the iPhone lineup with this release.

Additionally, all iPhone 15 models could have thinner curved bezels and a frosted glass back, rather than the usual glossy/frosted split we’ve seen between non-Pro and Pro models.

Likewise, the camera bump on the back of the iPhone 15 could have a new design. Rumors haven’t told us exactly yet, though, except that it’s bigger and thicker than before. The iPhone 15 Pro may see the most significant increase, as early renders show that the individual lenses have doubled in size from the previous generation.

Leaked iPhone 15 Pro cases hint at possible design changes for Apple’s high-end handset. The cases feature relocated power and volume buttons; there’s also a cutout for the mute button, which is expected to replace the mute switch on some iPhone 15 models.

According to reports, renderings based on iPhone 15 Plus CAD files show the changes mentioned above, with dynamic islands replacing the notch on the iPhone 14 Plus and the Lightning port being replaced by USB-C.

iPhone 15 and USB-C

The biggest iPhone 15 design rumor to date is that 2023 is the year Apple finally ditches the Lightning port on the phone. That’s not entirely surprising: Not only is the company adopting the connection on its laptops and tablets, but the European Union has officially mandated that all phones use USB-C by 2024.

Leaked images of iPhone 15 testers seem to further confirm this. The port in these images cannot be mistaken for the Lightning Port of previous iPhones.

Wireless Charging

The iPhone 15 models will support MagSafe Charging and the new Qi2 standard, allowing 15W charging with non-MagSafe third-party accessories. Even accessories that don’t officially support MagSafe will get faster wireless charging as long as they use Qi2.

iPhone 15 Color Guesses

We’re starting to hear more rumors about potential color options for the iPhone 15 models. The most prominent rumor from 9to5Mac claimed that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would come in a deep red color option; now, a second source backs up the claim of a deep red iPhone 15 Pro. The same report also claims that Apple is considering light blue and pink as color options for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

iPhone 15 Camera

One of the earliest rumors about the iPhone 15 included a possible new camera upgrade. After bumping up the megapixels of the iPhone 14 Pro models to 48MP, word is that the new iPhones could finally feature a periscope camera for better telephoto and zoom capabilities, with lenses said to be improved to provide Higher quality photos.

That’s all we know so far. As always, we’ll keep you posted when we learn more about the iPhone 15 series.
